Mein Glückwunsch. Wir werden sehen, wie gut diese Entscheidung letztlich gewesen sein wird. Immerhin bleibt zu hoffen, dass es künftig bergauf geht und die neue Regierung sich an geltendes Recht halten wird und mögliche Rechtsbrüche der letzten Administration - etwa die rechtswidrige Vergabe von Sozialleistungen - aufarbeiten wird.

Aus gut informierten Quellen weiß ich, dass etwa Dr. Sandor Nagy zeitweise rechtswidrig Sozialleistungen erhalten hat, und dass Waffenbesitzgenehmigungen ohne Erfüllung der notwendigen Voraussetzungen erteilt werden.

Die neue Regierung sollte in meinen Augen dringend die Akten der aktuellen Regierung überprüfen und gegebenenfalls an die Strafverfolgungsbehörden weiterleiten. Untersuchungsausschüsse der Assembly würde ich aber grundsätzlich auch begrüßen.

Mit den Strafverfolgungsbehörden werden wir nur möglicherweise das Problem haben, dass diese auch weiterhin von eben Mr. Nagy geleitet werden. Ich weiß zwar nicht, welche personellen Pläne President-elect Baumgartner in diesem Bereich verfolgt, aber möglich wäre es. Eine öffentliche Beweiserhebung durch einen Untersuchungsausschuss würde - sofern sich der von Ihnen geäußerte Verdacht erhärtet - jede Vertuschung unmöglich machen.

Interessant wäre ja eine Stellungnahme von Dr. Nagy, ob er nach seinem Rücktritt als Attorney General von Astoria State Sozialleistungen erhalten hat, obwohl diese nur Personen zustehen, die unverschuldet in Not geraten sind und er als Anwalt jederzeit die Möglichkeit gehabt hätte, selbstständig tätig zu werden.
Interessant wäre auch, ob Commoner Madrazzo tatsächlich eine Genehmigung zum Führen einer Schusswaffe erhalten hat, ohne die vorgeschriebenen Tests absolviert zu haben und die nötigen Anträge gestellt zu haben, in denen er etwa Art und Anzahl der Waffen angeben müsste.

Dafür gälte es, die rechtlichen Voraussetzungen zu schaffen, und auch dann ist eine Kooperation besagter Personen in meinen Augen recht unwahrscheinlich. Aber wenn man auf anderem Wege keine Antwort erhält, bin ich gespannt auf einen entsprechenden Gesetzesvorschlag.
