Handlung:Quinn sitzt mit seinem alten Freund Thomas Martins gemütlich bei einem Bierchen und hat - wie üblich - laute Rockmusik laufen. Beide unterhalten sich angeregt über Perspektiven - Astor scheint ja für Bürgerrechtler und freiheitsliebende Menschen wenig Aussichten zu bieten, mehr und mehr bahnt sich hier Unterdrückung und Falschheit an, manch einer würde wohl schon von Verrat seitens des Präsidenten reden. Aber wohin gehen? Beide brüten über einer Broschüre die Thomas als international anerkanntem Sicherheitsspezialisten zugeschickt wurde.

Handlung:Nach dem Gespräch hatte Thomas seine Sachen gepackt und das Land schnell verlassen. Aus Ozeania lässt er Quinn noch eine E-Mail zukommen mit der Meldung dass er gesund dort angekommen sei und sich jetzt als mehr oder minder politischer Flüchtling dort um die Staatsbürgerschaft beworben habe. Quinn wird die Nachricht am nächsten Morgen mit einem lächelnden und einem weinenden Auge lesen, sie wird ihm aber doch sehr zu denken geben.

Handlung:In seinem alten Apartment sitzend schmunzelt Quinn über einigen Schriftstücken von Sandy van het Reve, in denen von Threads und einem außersimulatorischen Bereich eines Astorian Politics Center die Rede ist. Im Hinblick darauf, dass die jetzige Attorney General bei Hinweisen auf ihre eigenartige Rechtsdeutung von etwas für Quinn typischem spricht muss er sich doch fragen, ob da irgendwelche Dämpfe durch das Büro der Attorney Generals wabern. Obwohl, vielleicht machts ja doch die Haarfarbe, wie bei der jungen Dame von der Athena University. Vielleicht nutzen auch alle drei das selbe Färbemittel. Mit diesem amüsanten Gedanken macht sich Quinn ein Bier auf.
