Honorable Legislators!

Der Kongress der Vereinigten Staaten hat folgenden Zusatz zur Bundesverfassung beschlossen. (Bill 2017/04/2)

Die Aussprache dauert vorerst vier Tage.
Federal Oath of Office Constitutional Amendmend Ratification Bill

Section 1 - Ratification of an Amendment to the United States Constitution
Der Free State of New Alcantara ratifiziert den folgenden Zusatz zur Verfassung der Vereinigten Staaten:
Amendment VIII - [Oath of Office]
(1) Der Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten soll bei Amtsantritt folgenden Eid leisten:

“I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Eine religiöse Beteuerung ist zulässig.

(2) Der Vizepräsident, die Mitglieder des Kongresses sowie alle anderen Amtsträger des Bundes haben bei Amtsantritt folgenden Eid zu leisten:

“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter.”
Eine religiöse Beteuerung ist zulässig.


Section 2 - Coming into Force
Dieses Gesetz tritt entsprechend der verfassungsmäßigen Bestimmungen in Kraft.

Honorable Legislators,

ich halte diesen Zusatz zur Verfassung für unnötig. Die bisherige Rechtslage und Tradition des Ablegen eines Eid hat sich bewährt und ich sehe keinen Grund hiervon abzuweichen oder vom Gesetzgeber regulieren zu lassen.

Ich lehne eine Ratifizierung folglich ab und empfehle es ihnen ebenfalls. Sollte der Urheber dieses Entwurf vor diesem hohen Haus seinen Entwurf nochmals erläutern wollen, erteile ich Ihm gerne dass Rederecht. Ich bezweifle aber einen Erkenntnisgewinn, da auch in den Kongressdebatten nicht deutlich wurde warum wir diesen Bill brauchen.

ich finde dieses Amendment nicht überlebensnotwendig, aber es ist ein schöner Beitrag für die Würdigung des kulturellen Ursprungs unseres Landes. Dementsprechend bin ich geneigt, ihm zuzustimmen.

Honorable Legislators,

wie Legislator Willey bereits anmerkte dieses Amendment, ist nicht mehr als schönes Beiwerk. Ich denke aber in den jetzigen Zeiten, an der ein erbarmungsloser Krieg nur wenige Kilometer von unserer Staatsgrenze tobt, zehntausende von Flüchtlingen aus dem Bürgerkrieg in Stralien vor unserer Grenze stehen sollten wir Alcanteros dem Kongress in Astoria City zeigen dass er wichtigere, existentielle Aufgaben als diesen unnötigen Zusatz zur Verfassung hat.

Honorable Legislators,
das kann ich als Gegenargument nicht gelten lassen: Wir sitzen bereits hier und sprechen und wir werden auch abstimmen. Ob wir das für oder gegen das Amendment tun, das ist nicht unterschiedlich zeitaufwändig - der Kongress indessen vertraut offensichtlich der Fähigkeiten der United States Armed Forces. Mir ist nicht bekannt, dass für die Beratungen der Amendment Bill wichtige Beratungen zu Stralien verschoben oder verzögert wurden.
